about us
cascadia is a pb community based in seattle, washington. we're a dedicated group of writers who are interested in reviving the time when rp was fun and creative, and we're looking for like-minded individuals who want the same. regardless of the size of our community, cascadia is only interested in dedicated members with friendly and welcoming attitudes who want a long term home. you can expect a lot from this community if you join and strive to be a visible, active part of it. we plan on implementing many fun group activities and will be fair to all members.

all forms of ic drama are welcome, but please avoid ooc drama! be friendly, courteous and open-minded. we welcome characters that are down to earth, unstable, shy, aggressive, or maybe even a bit of everything. however, ooc bullying, ic/ooc line-crossing, and other such shenanigans are not tolerated in this community, and if we find out that you are participating in this kind of behavior it could lead to your removal from the game with or without prior warning.

we encourage all members to keep anon turned off in their comment settings to discourage any form of harassment, and to report any bullying to us so that we can keep our home safe, active, friendly, and positive.

for applicants
adds days are fluid due to the busy schedules of your mods. please remember that rp is a hobby and not a job, we do this because we want a home where everyone can flourish and we may not be able to be around 24/7 to respond to you but we will get back to you as soon as we can. removals will always occur on the last day of the month and may not always warrant an update post of their own if they do not occur on the same day as adds. removals can happen at any point in the day on the last day of the month, so it's important to make sure you've met requirements and not waited until the last minute.

please have both an ooc and friends only post up, and make sure that your ooc post is public so that people can always locate information on your character. please backdate these posts to prevent them from cluttering friends pages. we do not require a biography, but would like a small list of facts when you apply. we ask that usernames only include the name of your character without extra words, letters, numbers, or underscores.

applying an additional character: please have your primary character active in game for a minimum of two weeks before applying a second. no more than 3 characters per writer, and we reserve the right to reject any additional characters based on activity of your primary character. you must let us know who your primary character is when applying.

reapplying after removal: if your character has been removed due to inactivity during the monthly activity checks, you are welcome to reapply as soon as you'd like. the only requirement we ask is that you post some form of an update and have it viewable to the mods before you reapply. acceptable updates include: narratives, mixed media updates, first person entries (letters, blog posts, etc). we will not accept instagram posts or playlists as a substantial update.

examples: examples are required. we need a minimum of 2 scene examples, and 2 update examples (at least one third person narrative will be required for acceptance.) acceptance into the community is largely based on quality of examples, so please put your best foot forward. we ask that smut and adult scenes not be included in examples here.

rejections: please
note and agree upon applying that we will not answer questions about why an application was deleted. rejections happen when we have reviewed your examples and we do not, for various reasons, see your writing as a good fit for the current style of writing we have seen in our members. we will let you know if a rejection could be pending for other reasons (i.e. a friends list that needs to be cleared out, if we cannot access your examples, or if we need to see more). if this happens, you may feel free to provide more in depth or current examples and apply again at any time in the future.

ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS
once you’re accepted into cascadia, you have three days (or typically until the next set of adds) to post in waterfront introducing yourself to the community. before the last day of each month, members are required to provide links to their character's activity. the following components will all be required to be cleared for activity and avoid removal:

interaction: you must submit an interactive post once every two weeks/15 days. this post can either be in waterfront or in your character's journal and must have comments enabled, with at least 80% of comments replied to in order to fulfill the requirement. if you can not provide a post, we will also accept at least 5 comment threads with 5 comments or more. these comment threads can not all be from the same day, and this option can only be used once per month. one interaction must be from the first 15 days of the month and one must be from the last 15 days of the month to be considered active. off-site activities are permitted, but not acceptable for meeting interaction requirements.

update: we will require at least one update to be posted in your character's journal before the end of the month, along with your friends page activity. examples of updates include: narratives, mixed media updates, first person entries (letters, blog posts, etc.), voicemails or text messages. we will not accept instagram posts or playlists as a substantial update (unless they're accompanied by narratives or some form of writing that gives insight to your character). if you do not wish to update your character in a given month, you may still meet activity requirements if you provide a link to a completed or ongoing scene/thread with a minimum of 6 responses total. however, this option can not be used two months in a row.

activities: in the event that you would like to have your character host an activity such as a community-wide party or charity event where characters can participate either through a group plot post or a group threading post, you will be given an update pass that you can either use toward your update requirement for the current month, or save for use at a later time. this update pass can only be used by the character it was given to. if multiple characters host an event, you must inform the mod of everyone involved so that update passes can be given properly.

hiatuses & extensions: we're all human beings here and above all, your real life should always come before a game. some of us are busy people, and sometimes we can't meet requirements or just need a break. we'll always be extremely accommodating if you need some time off or just some extra time to get an update up in your journal. if something arises that you feel will prevent you from updating on time, feel free to contact us to request an extension for a few days. if you think you'll need more time than that, you are welcome to request a hiatus (for two weeks or more), but will still be expected to meet your requirements by the end of the month upon your return. you are responsible for dropping off your activity to the mod journal. you must reply to your intro comments within the allotted time frame, or you will be considered doa and removed. this also applies to any post you supply to meet the activity requirements. we reserve the right to revisit and alter our rules if we feel too many people have taken advantage of extensions, hiatuses, removals, or consistently doing the bare minimum. a community can not thrive without public interaction, so we ask that you help keep us alive.

as mods, we are doing everything we can to keep our home friendly and active, and we ask that you do the same. we will be here whether we have five members or five hundred, please help support us by reaching out to your fellow players and having fun. we have plans for lots of fun, interactive activities in our future and we can't wait to have you as a part of our community.
